574 Rialto Avenue
R&D Architects designed this 3200 square foot single family home on a 2550 square foot lot. An original glazed tile mural by artist Elaine Carhartt spans two and a half floors, wrapping the east corner of the building. The architects have choreographed an experience of expansion and compression as one moves through more public to private spaces within the house. Floor-to-ceiling glass on the west and street facing walls flood the interior with natural light. Private outdoor spaces are featured on all three floors. Main level floors are radiant heated concrete and solar panels provide sustainable of electricity. Substantial cross ventilation prevents the need for air conditioning.
