R. L. Binder, FAIA Architecture & Planning established in 1979 by Rebecca L. Binder, FAIA , is a woman-owned architecture firm providing comprehensive planning, programming, and design services. The firm has been widely published and exhibited, and is recognized nationally and internationally as a leading design firm in California. RLB has created a body of architectural work that is the culmination of focused and informed creative thought. The firm’s completed works include university, institutional, and commercial projects. Program functions for these projects include laboratories, administration/office space, auditoriums and lecture halls, classrooms, conference centers, medical facilities, food service facilities, multi-media and exhibition space, student unions, art studios, athletic and recreational facilities and power cogeneration plants. The firm has won numerous awards for creative and responsive design and in 2001 received the Firm Award from the AIACC. In 1998 Kim Walsh, AIA, who joined the firm in 1983, became a partner.
