Two fully detached homes are separated by private gardens and offset from existing adjacent structures to ensure maximum privacy from neighboring properties. Taking advantage of the steep lot, these two houses command 180 degree views of the San Francisco Bay, the city skyline and the Bay Bridge. Materials were selected for their quality of surface: raw concrete, clear finished wood, smooth plaster, and cold rolled and galvanized steel. A linear clerestory snakes through the project, countering the solidity of the concrete stair and wall.
